In this role, you will be an integral member of the UNRWA Washington team pursuing creative and effective advocacy strategies to effectively advance UNRWA’s priorities. Your efforts will help to ensure that Palestine refugees continue to have access to education, health care, and vital social services.
The main responsibilities include:
Serving as UNRWA Representative Office, Washington, D.C. (ROWASH) main focal point in managing and leveraging the relationships with Washington, D.C. based international financial institutions (FI)s and other multilateral organizations, including the World Bank Group (WBG) and the Global Partnership for Education (GPE);
Engaging regularly with Washington, D.C. based donors contributing to the above FIs and building partnerships with those donors to maximize the level of financial support necessary for strengthening the relationships between UNRWA and the WBG and GPE;
Coordinating the dissemination and flow of information and analysis within UNRWA, including especially ROWASH and External Relations and Communications Department, on issues related to the WBG and GPE and provides guidance to all other relevant departments and individuals, including the Executive Office and field offices;
Actively pursuing innovative avenues of cooperation and partnerships with other key donors to ensure more support and assistance in advocating for additional funding opportunities, including but not limited to the development of a WBG-UNRWA Trust Fund;
Representing UNRWA at WBG and GPE meetings to ensure strategic positioning of the Agency and that UNRWA’s views are fully reflected and integrated in common strategic papers; actively promoting UNRWA and its mandate and needs in relevant fora;
Developing position papers, strategy documents, and other written materials as necessary for use by the WBG, GPE, and UNRWA.
Conditions of service
UNRWA offers an attractive compensation package including annual salary starting at $59,151 net tax free with post adjustment of 47.1% (subject to change without notice). All UNRWA duty stations (with the exception of Gaza and Syria) are family duty stations. Other benefits, subject to eligibility, include:

To qualify for this position, you will need:
Education
A university degree from an accredited educational institution in social science, economics, international relations, business or public administration, law, or humanitarian and development studies or a related discipline;
Work
experience
At least six years of progressively responsible experience working in international affairs, including experience in or expert knowledge of the World Bank Group (WBG) and Global Partnership for Education (GPE);
Language(s)
Excellent command of spoken and written English.
